Zambia coach Renard wary of Sudan threat
Zambia coach Herve Renard expects a stiff opposition from the Desert Hawks of Sudan when the two sides battle out for a place at the semi final on Saturday at the Estadio de Bata.
“I know much about the Sudanese team and have followed them from the qualifiers till this stage. They are not here by chance. From their previous three games, their determination was very high and I envisage a tough test from them.
“They have good players like Mohammed Tahir and are very swift on the counter too. They have a lot quality in their team. We will play with a lot of respect and caution.”
The Frenchman says his team is motivated by the fact that they have not reached the semi final of the competition since 1996.
“Now, we are at the same level like two years ago in Angola. We want to better and that remains our target.”
Renard is also upbeat about his team’s chances against old foes Sudan.
