Sudan in shocking quarter final appearance
The Desert Hawks of Sudan reached a historic quarter final at the Africa Cup of Nations after a 2-1 win over Burkina Faso on Monday at the Estadio de Bata
Al Hilal striker Mudathir Eltaib scored in each half as Sudan cruised to the last eight of the competition for the first since 1970.
The 1970 African champions went through after after Cote d’Ivoire beat Angola 2-0 in the other Group B clash in Malabo, in a game the Palancas Negras needed at least a draw to march on.
Sudan and Angola finished on four points each, but the Sudanese got the nod on goal difference.

The Burkinabes had a positive start but yet again were let down by defensive errors.
Eltaib scored the opener on 33 minutes after robbing Burkina Faso defender Mohammed Tall off the ball before shooting beyond the reach of goalkeeper Daouda Diakite.
Ten minutes from, another blunder this time by Diakite saw Eltaib profit again by rounding of the goalkeeper and firing into the yawning net.
In added-on time Issiaka Ouedraogo grabbed a face-saving consolation for the Burkinabes, who finished bottom of the group without a point.
