Niger qualify despite three nil thrashing
Niger made history by qualifying for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations despite a three nil defeat in Cairo against Egypt.
This was possible after neither South Africa nor Sierra Leone could take advantage of this slip. Egypt fielded in their U23 side as they used the game to prepare for their Olympic qualifier tournament but the lads proved to be p to the task as Omar Mohsen broke the deadlock three minutes after the break to power the Egyptians into the game. Mohamed Salah doubled the lead on 56 minutes to send the Mena into disarray, while Mohsen completed his brace in the 71st minute to secure a 3-0 win. Despite the defeat, Niger still progress on a mini league rule.
