FKF salute Zambia for winning AFCON
Football Kenya Federation(FKF) has joined Africa in congratulating Zambia for winning the 28th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Federation reiterated that both Zambia and Ivory Coast were worthy winners by virtue of reaching the finals. Zambia emerged from the dust of the catastrophic plunge of their Airforce Buffalo DHC-5D which killed 30 of their countrymen on the shores of Libreville Gabon on April 27 1993.
“Our hearts are with Zambia because of their humility.I pay glowing tribute to my brother Kalusha Bwalya who is the president of the Zambian FA who missed the tragic event of 19 years ago by a whisker.FKF is ready to partner with Zambia FA to develop Football within East and central Africa and the South African Confederation” said Nyamweya.
The Federation in conjunction with the Kenya Government is also planning to pursue a possibility of bidding for one of the future editions of the Africa Cup of Nations,
Nyamweya disclosed that his federation will be consulting the relevant authorities in the Kenya Government to bid following the successfuil event that ended on Sunday in Libreville Gabon.”I will give a more detailed statement after such consultations have taken shape” he noted.
Nyamweya added"I also congratulate all the Zambian’s and especially President Michael Sata for their team’s success. The People of Zambia deserve to celebrate this historic victory and further wish to congratulate Africa Football Confederation (AFC) for a well organized tournament staged in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea”.
