2012 Afcon: “Gabon win was not about revenge”- Alain Giresse
Mali coach Alain Giresse has dismissed claims that revenge had been his motivation in beating Gabon in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final on Sunday.
"Revenge? I don't function like that, anyone who says I was motivated by revenge doesn't know me," said the coach at a press conference.
"My only concern was preparing my Mali team, to help them achieve their objectives. My only pleasure is to see my team go through to the semi-finals."
Mali face Cote d’Ivoire on Wednesday in Bata.
