The match

This final is Egypt's masterpiece. It is the first country in the tournament's history to grab a third unprecedented successive CAN title after 2006 and 2008. Once again Mohamed Nagy Gedo was the man of a match that will not go down as a classic. The Pharaoh's attacker is the first substitute in the tournament's history to be distinguished by the title of best scorer. Coach Hassan Shehata pulled out his fatal weapon, the Pharaoh's « Super sub » in the 70th minute. Only 15 minutes later Gedo capitalized one of his first opportunities. After a superb collective action the attacker curled a beautiful shot past a powerless Ghana goalie. This goal was the decisive one in a match where it soon became clear that the team opening the score would also be the one taking home the trophy. And that's just how things went, even though The Black Stars started out brightly and had promising spells. The team's capability to stick to the opponent has been impressing and the young team succeeded in disturbing their usually flaming adversaries especially at the wings. Unfortunately the young Ghana side failed to put their chances away. But what will be remembered of this CAN Orange 2010 is The Pharaoh's masterpiece. The double African champion won his third title in a row without having been defeated even once during these past three weeks.

Ghana
KINGSON
only glanced at the Egyptian strikes that passed his cage and one of his only actions did unfortunately not allow him to stop Gedo's magnificent strike. Solid in the back INKOOM took advantage of Moawad's passivity and was dangerous even in the attack. But he was not quick enough to avoid Gedo's goal. Midfielders ADDY and VORSAH finally found their rhythm and the couple had a perfect control over the opponent attackers. SARPEI's self sacrifice counterbalanced somehow his feeble counter-attacks . ANNAN was not to be seen in the attack but he did a good job in the recovery area. A tireless BADU contested every ball with success. André AYEW succeeded in neutralizing Moawad. ASAMOAH dribbles caused a lot of trouble to the opponent team. The same can not be said of his strikes which were easily stopped just like his well parried nice strike in the first half . OPOKU has been assigned El Mohamady and he fulfilled his task with a lot of skill giving a hard time to one of The Pharaoh's key players. A big match. Left alone in the front GYAN hit hard and was at the origin of some interesting actions, but only two free kicks fired from outside the area were somehow dangerous.

Egypt
The first half of the match was a quiet one for goalie EL HADARY who only had to deal with a couple of far strikes. Things got more serious in the second half with two free kicks from Gyan. His failed exit in the first half was finally without consequences. EL MOHAMADY, one of Egypt's best players throughout this tournament suffered from Opoku's blocking and was far from his best level. Just as MOAWAD on the left wing who suffered from his young aggressive adversaries. He was quickly replaced by ABDELSHAFI. In the center GOMAA was very active, he won most of the battles and he did not hesitate to play it aggressive. His team mate SAÏD was less vigilant and belonged to those suffering from Ghana, his problem was named Gyan. Just as midfielders HOSNI and FATHY who were incapable to cope with the Ghanaians pressure and linked up one unsuccessful pass after the other. GHALY gave everything. HASSAN and EMAD might have been exhausted but in any case they missed their final. ZIDAN as well was very discrete until he woke up for the decisive one-two with GEDO. The latter broke into the box at pace and justified once again his title of “Super sub”. His beautiful curled shot past Ghana's goalkeeper was the result of a magnificent collective action and offered The Pharaohs a third unprecedented successive title. This goal made him the top marksman in the tournament with five goals.

The referee : M.Coulibaly (MAL)
The Malian referee was perfect throughout the match and honored the CAF's confidence.
