Algérie / Saâdane : «Egypt is supported by the CAF»
After Thursday's heavy loss in the semi final against Egypt (4-0), Rabah Saâdane, the Algerian coach has the feeling he has been unfavorably treated. He explained his resentments to our Orange Sport correspondent right after the match.
Rabah Saâdane (Algeria's coach)
« My worst deception was that our best defender has been sent-off due to two yellow cards received in a row. His (Rafik Halliche) first warning before the penalty is completely unjustified. From the moment he was sent off the pitch the match was not the same any more. We have been able to dominate the first part of the second half in spite of our numerical inferiority, but we were tired and in the front we lacked both efficiency and reactivity. After Belhadj's sent off the team has been incapable to go on. We are not used to find ourselves at nine or eight, but we have to learn how to cope with this kind of situation, this is one of the lessons of this match. It is certain that the behaviour of the Egyptian team has an influence on the referee. Egypt can count on the support of the CAF (Editor's note, Confederation of African Football). The confederation has its head office in Cairo! It seems to be clear that everybody works for Egypt »
